Christmas is a time for giving. Here are a couple of great gift ideas that you can use to make your gifts more unique!
Washcloth Gift Set
Take
two washcloths (preferably hand made) and package them with a bar of
soap. Tie the soap on with a ribbon for a pretty gift. The washcloths pictured were hand crocheted by my grandmother.
Gift Basket

With
two bars of soap, a bottle of lotion, a tube of lip balm, a basket, and
ribbon you can make a lovely gift for anyone of your acquaintance.
Baskets are easy to find. The best source for inexpensive baskets is
the thrift store, but you can also buy new ones at most stores. You can
find basket filler, basket bags, and ribbon at Hobby Lobby (my all time
favorite craft store!) or Wal-mart. Arrange it all, tie your ribbon,
and you have just turned a nice gift into an
extraordinary gift!Be creative! How can you make your gifts more special this year?
Do you have anyone on your Christmas list this year that you don't
know what to buy? It's not that you don't care - it's just that it's
hard to know what they will like and actually use (you don't just want
your gift to sit around unopened on some shelf or in a closet). Some
people are hard to shop for.
Goat
milk soap, goat milk lotion, and beeswax lip balm make perfect gifts
for those hard-to-shop-for people. They are usable (they won't just sit
around unused!), take little space, yet show thought and care. These
items are more special
than any lotions or soaps you could buy at a store
(even than those from Bath & Body Works). Why? Because
they are handmade, quality gifts, and are good for your skin to boot!
These products show extra effort and say, "You're important!"
These
are special gifts for the special people in your life. Lots of
selection is available when it comes to the goat milk soap, lotion, and lip balm. Lotion comes in
three different sizes, while soap comes in two. You can mix and match
scents, or choose a set. Don't know what scents to go with? Try these
suggestions!
Soap: Looking for
ladies? Try Rose Petals, Vanilla Bean, Jasmine, or Lavender. Men? Autumn
Spice, Lemongrass, or Plain N' Gentle. Children?
Lavender, Vanilla Bean, Plain N' Gentle, or Oatmeal N' Honey.
Lotion:
Ladies will love any of it! If they are particularly girly go with
Rose or White Ginger Amber. If they want something lighter, get Pink
Grapefruit or Plain N' Gentle. Men seem drawn to Lemongrass, Oatmeal N'
Honey, Plain N' Gentle, and Lavender. Children love most any scent!
Lip Balm: Any flavor is perfect for everyone on your list!
Today was my first Saturday selling at the Athens Farmer's Market - and it was quite a step up from selling at the little Farmer's Market in Jefferson the last two years. Lots of vendors, lots of people, and more sales than I am used too. What more could you ask for in a Farmer's Market? There are a few more regulations and expenses than in Jefferson, but I guess that just comes with being a bigger market...
If you live near Athens, stop by sometime and say hello. The market takes place in Bishop Park from 8:00-12:00 every Saturday morning until the beginning of December (although I won't be there all of those Saturdays). While you're there you can find fresh produce and other goodies, not to mention goat milk soap, goat milk lotion, and beeswax lip balm :)
